This artwork has been my biggest test yet. The level of detail and packing in the lay of the land into a portrait orientation was a challenge to say the least. My inspiration for this came from many a bike ride over the Wharncliffe crags with the lads or a dog walk with the family. The view from there as many will know is the best by far and is a perfect angle to feature both sides of the valley.
The aim was to capture as much of 'Stocky' into this one symbolic piece of art that illustrates the steel town from past and present. Mainly how it looks today with some small hints of days gone by. Can you spot where they are?
